Successful start in the search for good practices: The first SMART+ Conference in Krakow
The I SMART+ Interregional Conference which was held in Krakow on 13th of October 2011, attracted almost 80 stakeholders – policy makers, researchers, academics and experts in the field of R&D and entrepreneurship. 
The I SMART+ Interregional Conference which was held in Krakow on 13th of October 2011, attracted almost 80 stakeholders – policy makers, researchers, academics and experts in the field of R&D and entrepreneurship. The conference hosted attendees from European regions of Aragon, Saxony, Małopolska, Western Macedonia, Cluj County and South – East Bulgaria cooperating within SMART+ project, as well as from other regions in Poland and EU.
The event was a perfect platform to discover good practices in the SMART+ partner regions and to share knowledge and experiences on how to deliver the innovative economy development.
During the first day of the SMART+ interregional meeting (12th of October), project partners and subprojects representatives had opportunity to get to know an outstanding local example of the SMEs and R&D support by visiting the LifeScience Park Complex located in Krakow.

The project is funded by the INTERREG IVC, financed by the European Union’s Regional Development Fund, helps Regions of Europe to work together for sharing experiences and good practices in the areas of innovation, the knowledge economy, the environment and risk prevention. SMART + was approved by the Monitoring Committee INTERREG IVC on November 5th, 2009.
